Like music but haven't found YOUR place to fit in and sing?  Check out the Annapolis Youth Chorus!  With us, you'll sing all kinds of music - from Broadway and jazz to video games - while you learn to sing and take care of your voice.  Best of all, you'll be with  your friends!  Here's what you need to know ... or you can call the Annapolis Chorale at 410-263-1906.   

Membership and Auditions

Basic Membership Information: 

Preparatory -- Children in grades 1-3
Junior -- Boys and girls with unchanged voices in grades 4-7
Senior -- Girls in grades 8-12
Mixed -- Teens in grades 8-12

Audition Requirements:

Preparatory Division:

• Sing a simple melodic and/or rhythmic sight-reading example depending on ability level.
• They may also be asked to echo rhythmic and tonal examples

Junior and Senior Divisions: 

• Sing the first verse of " America the Beautiful", a cappella.
• Sing one prepared piece (singer will provide music for the accompanist or singer may sing unaccompanied). No pop music, please. 
• A folk song, a Broadway show tune, a hymn or something similar would be suitable.
• Sing a simple melodic and/or rhythmic sight-reading example depending on ability level.

Mixed Division (boys and girls):

• Sing from memory a folk song, Broadway tune or classical art song of their choosing (please bring music for accompanist - no taped accompaniments, please) 
• Be prepared to demonstrate rhythmic and melodic sight-reading ability.

Each audition will last from 7-10 minutes.

Singers will be notified of selection within one week of the audition date.

Once selected, new singers and parents must read the membership requirements, complete an application form and sign a contract.

A 20% tuition discount will be offered to children of Annapolis Chorale singers. For families with more than one member in the AYC, there will be a 50% discount for the second child.

Tuition scholarships are available.
